Snake River Scenic Float Trip Itinerary

ARRIVAL

Please arrive 35 minutes prior to your scheduled trip time (i.e. 9:25 am arrival for 10:00 am trip). Our check-in staff will be located near our bus. The meeting location is a large parking lot with ample parking, including RVs, also making it easy to spot our bus and check-in team. A staff member will check you in, answer any last-minute questions, and collect waiver signatures if needed. There is shaded seating and restroom facilities at this location. On warm days, we turn the AC on in the bus 10-15 minutes before we leave the parking lot. On cool days, the bus is heated.

We provide:

  • Water
  • Sparkling Water
  • Shared Binoculars
  • Ponchos

You are welcome to bring snacks, phones, cameras, etc. There is room on the boats for small personal bags or one large bag per group, but please refrain from bringing large bags/backpacks for each guest.

TRANSIT

The bus leaves promptly 25 minutes before your scheduled trip time (i.e. 9:35 am leave time for 10:00 am trip). This allows for a 10-minute grace period in case you are running a few minutes late. If all groups arrive early and are ready to go, we may leave early. From here, we take a quick 2-minute bus ride across the street to the river.

AT THE RIVER

Once parked, our staff members will direct you to the restrooms. Just past the restrooms, you will see our guides, excited to greet and fit you with a personal flotation device. The boat ramp can be a very busy place, so make sure to follow paved walking paths and follow any staff directions. Once everyone is fitted with their PFD, we will complete a quick 5-minute trip orientation. From their our trip leader will call out groups in boat one, then two and so on. There is a short distance to walk down to the boats. If you need assistance, please let us know and we will be happy to help. Now, time to hit the river!

FLOAT TIME

Enjoy panoramic mountain views, wildlife sightings, and fun, factual information from your guide. Float times do vary based on the time of year. In May and June, the float is about 2 hours. In July and August, the float is between 2 hours 15 minutes and 2 hours 30 minutes. In September, the float is between 2 hours 30 minutes and 2 hours 45 minutes.

END OF FLOAT / TRANSIT

Sadly, all float tours must come to an end. Staff members will help guests out of boats and take their personal floatation devices. This is a great time to say goodbye to your guide and snag a picture, as it is the last time you will see them. Follow the shaded tree path to the restrooms and parking lot where the bus is located. Drive time back to your car is about 25 minutes but can vary based on traffic or construction.

PLAN YOUR SNAKE RIVER SCENIC FLOAT TRIP

Driving & Parking Information

For all our Snake River scenic float trips, we will meet at Stilson Parking Center (1415 Beckley Park Way, Wilson, WY 83014) before taking a quick van ride across the street to the Wilson Boat Ramp. Stilson Parking Center is a large area with ample parking and restroom facilities. We will meet at the north end of the parking area, where you will see a flag with Teton Scenic Float Tours on it.

Summer is a busy and popular time of year! This means you may run into some traffic while you are visiting. Plan to give yourself ample drive time as wildlife jams are common along our highways. If you are driving from further away (Yellowstone or Grand Teton Parks) it is best to give yourself even more drive time so you don’t miss your scenic float trip.

What to Bring

Because Jackson Hole is located over 6,000 feet in elevation, we can experience a variety of weather in a single day! While July and August are the warmest months of the year, you may encounter an afternoon shower.

It is best to bring plenty of sunscreen and always wear sunglasses, hats, breathable clothing, and comfortable shoes.

The months of May, June, September, and October can be anywhere from 70 degrees and sunny to 35 degrees and snowing! For these months we
Recommend bringing clothing for warm weather and also clothing for cool mornings and evenings. It never hurts to wear layers and shed them as needed.

Drinking plenty of water is another must when visiting a high elevation destination. It may take a few days to acclimate and it is easier to get dehydrated at higher elevations, so hydration is especially important.

Just about every inch of Jackson Hole is picturesque, so make sure to bring your camera or phone along when safe to do so. You never know what you’ll see around the corner!
